HOW IT WORKS IN THE MOBILE APP

SPECT-O-MATIC mobile
Your guitar sound is great. You've spent months tweaking it. The only problem is that it disappears or gets buried in a band context or with a backing track?
Well, we can solve this problem as follows:
1.) Tap the control knob (A) 5 times: CAL MODE active. By tapping the tube start button, you start a 10-second recording of PINK NOISE on your (ideally neutral) desktop speakers. If you think the frequency response of the recording is "skewed," you can switch the microphone mode from "RAW" to "PROCESSED" by HOLDING the mini-display (H) and measure again. Just try out what works better for you.
Delete calibration: 3s HOLD on the control knob.
2.) Calibration is done – now you record your band or your backing track in the room. Set control knob to "2", and Start on the 'Tubes'. Again, a countdown, then 10s of recording. If the result is right (not too quiet, not too loud), you can save it permanently by tapping one of the four memory slots (C). Deleting is then done by HOLDING the respective memory slot.
3.) Backing track or band sound is recorded and saved. Now you record your guitar WITHOUT the band (control knob "3") and save this result in one of the free memory slots as well.
4.) Now you can overlay 2 of the saved slots in COMPARE mode (control knob "3"). This will likely show you very quickly that your guitar sound is being covered ("masked") by the backing sound in individual frequency bands. Use an equalizer to fit a core frequency of your guitar sound into a gap in the backing sound.
You will probably be surprised at how clearly your guitar sound now stands in the foreground. On its own (without the band), it might sound strange and unfamiliar – but WITH THE BAND in the background, you now take your position in the context.
That's how it's done in the studio, and with the SpectOMatic, now also at home and in the practice room.
