The GIT-O-MATIK combines 5 precise tools in one app: Tuner TUNE-O-MATIC + Metronome CLICK-O-MATIC + Timing Radar CHECK-O-MATIC. PLAY-O-MATIC and CAB-O-MATIC are new additions.
1.) Download & Installation
You can find the Windows 10/11 app in the Microsoft Store. Important: first, log in to the Store app. Then, run this link, which will take you directly to the current GIT-O-MATIK.
From there, you can install GIT-O-MATIK on your computer. You will also receive updates from there later. If your AV software warns you, please add an exception. GIT-O-MATIK is new and still too unknown for antivirus software. We certainly have no intention of spying on you or harming your computer.
You can find the latest Windows, Linux and macOS versions here on the server under DOWNLOADS.
2.) First Start
GIT-O-MATIK consists of two components: git-o-matik.exe and metronome_core.exe. The graphically appealing main app works with the ultra-fast and precise metronome_core (C++) to offer you true accuracy. Both program parts communicate via UDP network protocol – so you must click "allow" when prompted by the firewall. This will take you to the Start Screen.
3.) Start Screen
The Start Screen is your "base," where you can always return. From here, you can access the individual program parts TUNE-O-MATIC, CLICK-O-MATIC, CHECK-O-MATIC, PLAY-O-MATIC and CAB-O-MATIC via the buttons. The small animated gear icon in the bottom left allows you to go to the Config Screen from any program part and return.

4.) Config Screen
Explained from top to bottom:
A) In the top left, you see (behind the open gear icon) the MACHINE. As long as it is running and shows a green light, your metronome_core.exe is connected and working. If it is idle, the app will not function (firewall blocked?).
B) In the top right, it must say "SR live 48000 Hz." This is the internal processing speed. If anything else is displayed, you might need to restart your computer. Here you'll also find the switches for monitoring: intended for "virtual sounds" – i.e., guitarists who plug the cable directly from the guitar into the interface. (If you hear a delay, it's due to your audio devices' latency. An audio interface is recommended).
C) Right next to the MACHINE, you now select the desired driver API (DirectSound, MME, WASAPI, etc.). We recommend WASAPI or ASIO (> if necessary, install Asio4All). The lower the audio latency, the more precisely you can work. Windows MME and DirectSound were never designed for low latencies and are unsuitable – at least for the CheckOMatic. Of course, you are welcome to work with ASIO4ALL. It's certainly worth a try.
D) "Audio Input," "Audio Output," "Refresh," and "Set it" – these are self-explanatory. For input, we recommend a camera or podcast microphone. Output should initially be a speaker system (we need both for a one-time calibration of your system). If both selection boxes are empty on the very first start, please press the "Refresh" button.
E) Language selector. If you select "Deutsch" (German), all texts (including in TuneOMatic) will be displayed in German.
F) Metronome Mode "AUDIO" or "MIDI." We recommend AUDIO.
G) FX-Volume with a slider to adjust the volume of effect sounds (switches, knobs, etc.).
H) Speed Trainer settings for using the trainer function in CLICK-O-MATIC. Start and end speed, "Bars" is the number of measures until "+%" increases the speed. The special feature: you can turn on "Loop," then your loop will start over again and again. "Set" applies and saves your settings.
I) A click on the medallion logo in the bottom right opens the "About" field. This is also where the registration/update mechanism and license information are located.

GIT-O-MATIK: The About Screen
Music as a wonderful hobby
As a long-time musician and music teacher, I know quite precisely what the "sticking points" are when learning an instrument. Of course, there are tons of self-proclaimed gurus and solo artists on the internet whom you've probably already encountered. Everyone tells you a different wisdom, shows you shortcuts, gives you arduous exercises. Well, there are no shortcuts, that's for sure. Only with diligence and perseverance will you reach your goal. GIT-O-MATIK is designed to help you find your own way. In TUNE-O-MATIC, you can try out alternative tunings that you might like. With CLICK-O-MATIC and the trainer function, you can perfect finger exercises or chord strumming at your own pace. In CHECK-O-MATIC, you can check whether your self-perception of timing is a fact or if you still need to put in work.
Plans for the future
Actually, I only planned to program a steampunk-designed metronome to film effective practice sessions for my YouTube videos. It quickly became clear that Python was not designed for the required precision. The metronome_core, which runs as a C++ application in the background, is now responsible for precise timing. And so, the app with its three main applications grew week by week.
Since GIT-O-MATIK has powerful sound recognition, the plan is to integrate a SCALE-O-MATIK in one of the next versions. This will then be able to suggest various scales and keys and also recognize them in real-time. An MP3 player with loop and speed control is also an idea worth implementing. With it, you can then perfectly practice and play along to your favorite riffs. Let's see what else fits into the guitar toolbox. Until then, have fun and success!
